From the primeval utopia of Eden to the imposed order of Versailles, the garden has been a powerful metaphor in global literature. We’ll explore some common uses of the garden metaphor from religious and literary sources. We’ll look at how technology may be disrupting or even enhancing the image of the garden as a quiet sanctuary. And perhaps we’ll look forward to a new metaphor that calls us to the garden-like world.
