Gather with us to celebrate the ascension of the Full Moon at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting Hall located just outside of Marquette.

January’s full Wolf moon is in Cancer. Your feeling of safety is now related to your home, family and related activities such as cooking and gardening. You may be prone to emotional fluctuations; you should learn to forgive and forget in order to avoid depression from thinking too much about things. Your perception of the world can be very subjective; try to create a certain distance without being bitter. Due to your rich emotional manifestation you can create a real sense of belonging in the world.

The full Moon names come from Native American groups, Colonial Americans, or other traditional North American names passed down through generations.

The full Moon for January was called the Full Wolf Moon because wolves were more often heard at this time. It was traditionally thought that they howled due to hunger, but there is no evidence for this. However, wolves do tend to howl more often during winter months, and generally howl to define territory, locate pack members, and gather for hunting.

Other traditional names for the January Moon include: the Cold Moon, the Old Moon, and the Great Spirit Moon.

A community donation from each member is requested but not required. Please give what you can, but please don’t feel obligated to do so or do not attend if you can’t make a donation due to your financial situation. We would rather have you there than not at all. Donations will cover the cost of consumables at each event such as candles, offerings, etc. Any extra monies will go to a donation to the UU for use of their facilities and in the long term towards the UP Witches Ball.
