WHERE: At the Marquette Unitarian Universalist Congregation’s Meeting House, 1510 M-28 East, in Harvey.
WHY:
The GOAL of our Coming of Age Program is two-fold:
- To offer a program that provides community, support and ritual-ity to fulfill a seemingly innate, human need for these during times of significant life transitions.
- To help young people sort out their ethical and spiritual identities (recognizing that some young people do not feel religious/spiritual at all), so that they may make good decisions about the kind of person they want to become.
HOW: (Our objectives)
- For our participants to have fun & bond with a community of young people, exploring a variety of moral and spiritual values and practices through discussion, arts, and experience.
- For participants to articulate their own ethical and spiritual identity & to gain a deeper sense of identity.
- For participants to engage in direct experience, including a social justice project and a community service project, so they can experience living out their spiritual and ethical values in the world.
